A taxi driver barely evaded robbery after picking up a would-be thief on West 102nd Street and Broadway. Cops said that on Feb. 19 at 5 a.m., the thief asked the driver, a 38-year-old Bronx man, to make two stops, the first being West 102nd Street and Amsterdam Avenue. The thief instructed the driver to cross over Amsterdam Avenue onto a dead-end street. Police said that’s when the thief allegedly pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun and said, “Give me all the money you have.” When the thief got out of the car to approach the driver’s side, the driver sped away.
