Columbia Gets Biggest Donation Ever!

Now is a pretty good time to be a student at [Columbia University]. Forget about all their [eminent domain](http://www.nypress.com/20/9/informationagent/agent5.cfm) issues, the ivy league institution received its largest donation ever today—a whopping [$400 million](http://www.nypost.com/seven/04112007/news/regionalnews/kluge_donating_400m_to_columbia_regionalnews_carl_campanile.htm), courtesy of investor and alum [John Kluge](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Kluge), 92. The cash will come from his estate [upon his death](http://www.1010wins.com/pages/347978.php?contentType=4&contentId=406327) (try not to wish too hard), and will be used to provide merit-based scholarships for [needy students](http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/11/nyregion/11columbia.html?th&emc=th) who have already been accepted to the university. Fellow billionaire, Mayor Bloomberg, will give a speech on campus today in mighty praise of Kluge.
