Collecting the Wrong Debt

An Upper West Side man contacted police on June 8 after receiving a notice from a collection agency for an unpaid T-Mobile phone bill. The 34-year-old man, who lives on West 96th Street between Columbus and Amsterdam avenues, said he had never applied for a T-Mobile cell phone or service. The collection agency then deducted $65 from his bank account, most likely using stolen information.
