to the editor: have we started a new era in misrepresentation? ms. lee's article ("chabad expansion voted down," june 11) is a terrible misuse of words and a dangerous attempt to transform reality into a series of lies. chabad's plan has nothing to do with the "reconfiguration" or "restoration" of existing buildings. chabad is planning the annihilation of two beautiful late 19th-century limestone buildings designed by famous american architect john h. duncan. this is not about schools or education. it is about misleading people into believing nothing else but an unacceptable distortion of the truth. i am saying no to lies and manipulation. architect frank lloyd wright said that "noble life demands a noble architecture for noble uses of noble men. lack of culture means what it has always meant: ignoble civilization and therefore imminent downfall." killing the past and killing a city's history is unacceptable. it is ignoble. it reflects a lack of understanding of the essence of culture and humanity.
