Car Falls in Elevator Shaft

A Manhattan garage attendant parking a car was injured when the vehicle plunged down an elevator shaft.

Fire officials say the vehicle fell from the fifth floor to the second floor, landing on top of the elevator car. It happened just before 4 p.m. Thursday at a garage at 305 East 80th Street.

Fire officials say the attendant, who was still in the car, was hospitalized for trauma. It wasn't clear how serious the injuries were.
