Bus Route Question

to the editor: i was pleased to see "bus routes spared, but service cuts possible" (jan 28). however, i believe there is an error. the m10 bus, which goes south on central park west, is noted as service to be discontinued south of columbus circle and i see an asterisk (*). below there is a matching asterisk which states: "service reductions considered for first time." that is not true. the m10 bus used to go down to south street seaport or thereabouts. a number of years ago, that was discontinued and it is now going as far as 34th street. that is when you change to the m20 bus to continue south. this full service has been discontinued once, and now it is the second time. i notice your source: nyc transit. surely they should know.

editor's note: "service reductions considered forfirst time" was meant to indicate cuts that were discussed in january 2010, as opposed to those that the mta had proposed the prior month, december 2009. the statement was not meant to be an historical overview of the route, and should have been phrased accordingly.
