Brooklyn Boxer Kicks Ass

Brooklyn-born boxer Paulie Malignaggi (pronounced Mal-in-ya-gee), a.k.a “The Magic Man,” defeated Lovemore N’dou to win the IBF Junior Welterweight Championship on Saturday night in Connecticut. Viewers who mourned Tony Soprano’s exit from the airwaves 10 days ago now have a new HBO-based Sicilian to cheer for with the same penchant for beating people’s faces in. Coincidentally, a documentary chronicling the charismatic fighter’s rise to stardom, titled “The Magic Man,” just premiered at the Hoboken International Film Festival two weeks ago and won the festival’s Audience Award. Just what New York needs: another prima donna with an ego bigger than Madison Square Garden.
