Our Mike Bocamazo reports:  Rep. Bob Turner today endorsed Wendy Long, his former Republican primary opponent, in her U.S. Senate race against Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, saying that he and Long "are ideologically compatible" and citing a need to "put the adults back in charge." At the press conference for Turner's endorsement today in midtown Manhattan, Long blasted Gillibrand as inauthentic, saying that "the initiatives that she takes are cosmetic, are done for show." Long also said that Gillibrand is "a great advocate of transparency when it suits her." "Senator Gillibrand is a fundamentally unserious person," Long added. Asked about Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's choice of Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate, Long applauded Romney for choosing Ryan, "the one public figure in America more than any other who has stepped up to solve the very serious problems we have." Turner also praised what he saw as the realism underlying Ryan's budget plan, saying "we either get our act together or go off this financial cliff." Turner mentioned Greece as an example of entitlements and social programs bringing about financial crisis, saying that citizens are "all aware that Medicare and Social Security are unsustainable."
