Bash Compactor: The Breast of Friends

Last week BUST, the seminal indie women’s magazine, celebrated a decade and a half of being smart, savvy and, of course, perky.

The magazine commemorated the event at the South Street Seaport’s spiegeltents, with Amy Sedaris introducing performers. As the acts, including Murray Hill, Free Blood and Leslie and the LY’s, took the stage, fans enjoyed the complementary cupcakes from Babycakes and swilled $10 cocktails.

While the majority of the stylish crowd looked like they’d just stepped out of the magazine, one question hung in the air: What do you like best about your bust?

“I like that they haven’t gotten down to my knees yet,” said BUST founder Laurie Henzel as she looked down at her sparkly cloth-covered bosom. She added, “And they are a good shelf for crumbs.”

BUST editor Debbie Stoller chimed in, “What I like is that they even out my belly.”

Both women were quick to add that while they both sport ample busts, the magazine wasn’t named for theirs in particular.

The World Famous *Bob*, performing her burlesque act that night, admitted that, “I can set a plate of snacks on them while I watch a movie.”

Over music spun by JD Samson, formerly of Le Tigre, Leslie Hall (of the LY’s) said she was fond of her own bosom because, “it’s like having an armor of fat glands that will protect my heart and lady crest.” After so many years, it was nice to see such a fine-looking BUST.
