Backseat Burglary

Written by Jerry Danzig on . Posted in Crime Watch Our Town Downtown.

Someone broke into a parked vehicle and removed property belonging to the owner’s company. At 7:30 PM on Thursday, August 15, a 29-year-old man parked his vehicle, a gray 2002 Audi TT with New Jersey plates, on the northeast corner of Canal Street and Greene Street. When he returned to his car the next morning, he discovered that the passenger-side window had been shattered. A computer bag and its contents were missing from the back seat of the vehicle where he had left them. Video may be available at the scene. The stolen laptop had no tracking system installed. Items taken were an HP Elite laptop valued at $3,000, an LCD signature pad worth $200, an Escort 8500 radar detector valued at $150, a 500 GB external hard drive worth $80, a computer bag priced at $75, and a USB cable worth $60. The total haul amounted to $3,585.
