A Little Loud and Beardy
Brooklyn's Parts & Labor, just recently set out on a long arduous
journey across the states in support of electronic duo, Adult. This
journey made an early stop to their hometown borough, with a Friday
night headline gig at Luna Lounge. When the trio took the stage, they
told the crowd that they had missed sound check due to problems at the
US/Canada border, which led to the first joke of many from Dan Friel
(vocals/guitar/electronics) about BJ Warshaw's
(vocals/bass/electronics) beard. Despite all of that, the band sounded
as good as ever, storming though an overpowering set, which mixed in
plenty of new material from their upcoming May 22nd release, Mapmaker.
Chris Weingarten assaulted his drum set with savage ferocity, while
Friel and Warshaw created a cacophonous wall of melodic noise wizardry,
while sharing vocal duties.

Parts & Labor, "a little loud and beardy."
Before Parts & Labor ever graced the stage, openers Alex Delivery and Gowns brought a smattering of experimentation stage, and Big Bear lead singer, Jordyn Bonds may be a small woman, but her screaming war cry accompanied by the band's heavy rock sound brought the crowd to their knees.
