The 21-year-old bank teller told police the man, wearing one latex glove on his right hand, passed a note to her demanding money. The note reportedly said, “This is a bank robbery. Give me all the money in the top and bottom drawer in hundreds and fifties.” The teller reported that the man grabbed the money with his right hand and then exited the bank. Witnesses told police the man was seen traveling southbound on Third Avenue, on foot. The suspect made off with $7,400 in cash. No weapons were used and there were no injuries. Police are reviewing video from the scene and are looking for a white male, about 6’2”, 180 lbs with blonde hair and blue eyes, last seen wearing jeans and a black ski cap.

Two would-be bank robbers might want to take a course in remedial note writing after their attempted robbery failed miserably last Thursday, April 11. At around 3 p.m., two bank tellers at a First Avenue bank reported to police that they were approached by two different men using the same note to demand money. According to the tellers, a 24- and a 35-year-old woman, the note said “all large bills from both draws in bag. Comply and no one gets hurt.” Both tellers told police they simply ignored the notes. The 24-year-old teller told police that both men then fled the bank northbound on First Avenue towards E. 87th Street. The suspects, described as black men in their 40s wearing sunglasses and jeans, did not get any money. Police said there was video of the incident available. The major case squad is reportedly investigating the incident.

The clerk also said that as the men were leaving the store with the unpaid merchandise, one man displayed a dark object, which looked like a weapon. The suspects fled on foot southbound on Wooster Street, possibly using a dark, four-door sedan for their escape. The bags the men took, all Alexander Wang Rocco bags, were valued at $5,965. Police said there was no video surveillance. Police are looking for the two men, described as wearing blue jeans, multi-colored jackets and sneakers.

At that point, the driver told police the woman got back in the cab and now demanded she be taken to Jersey City. The driver said he again refused and leaned over the woman, opened her door and told her to get out of his cab. The woman finally got out and was last seen on Broadway. But, the driver reported that after the woman left, he discovered his wallet missing. The wallet had about $6 in cash along with credit cards and the driver’s identification. Police are looking for the woman who was last seen wearing black jeans, a black jacket and a cap.
