Assaulted Boy May Have Met Bad Guy On MySpace

It seems the 13-year-old boy who was found stripped and cuffed to a tree on Staten Island yesterday might have met his attacker on

Police said the boy gave them conflicting stories yesterday, but they chocked it up to emotional distress. The teen says he was on his way to his school bus stop yesterday when a stranger abducted him at knifepoint and hauled him into the woods. Now sources say that police are looking into whether the boy may have been talking with the attacker online, and that yesterday’s assault took place after an arranged meeting. Police say they may have been exchanging emails for about three months. A thorough search of the boy’s computer is being conducted.

ASPCA officer John DeLaTore and his partner found the unidentified boy after a passer-by heard screams and notified the two passing animal cruelty officers. The victim was taken to Staten Island University Hospital and CBS News reports that doctors found no evidence of sexual assault. But the New York Daily News reports that a police source said the boy told cops he felt his attacker "rubbing something against him."

Detectives are searching for a suspect, who is described as a black male, 5-foot-10, in his early 20s, wearing a hooded sweatshirt and sweatpants. Hmmm…
