Public Art Fund Talks: Christian Jankowski

April 29, New School’s Tishman Auditorium, 66 W. 12th St. (betw. 5th & 6th Aves.); 6:30, $5

The German artist Christian Jankowski is a highbrow prankster, somewhere between Marcel Duchamp and Tom Friedman. His latest project, a trio of life-sized bronze sculptures in Central Park, has to do with those annoying life-sized humans dressed up as historical figures to try and separate tourists from their cash. Except Jankowski’s sculptures are sculptures. Get it? If not, he’ll explain.

Bottom Line: If Jankowski’s as clever in person as he is in his work, this will be fun. If not, art talks are also pretty funny because they always get confrontational.
