Another Sex Crime, Another Finger Pointed At MySpace

Unlike the [handcuffed kid] from Staten Island who [cried MySpace](http://www.silive.com/news/advance/index.ssf?/base/news/1174725071255240.xml&coll=1), it seems a Long Island girl really was sexually assaulted by a man she met on the social networking site.

[From 1010WINS]: “After a 6-week-long cyber-relationship, the 13-year-old girl made arrangements with 20-year-old Zachary Rapoza of Bayport for him to pick her up Monday at 8 a.m. outside her house, but a relative saw the girl climb out a bathroom window and into the man's Jeep and contacted her father at work.”

It seems Rapoza is of the old-school-live-with-your-folks-as-an-adult variety, the ones that give all the non-rapists still sleeping in their childhood bunk beds a bad name. According to police, he raped the unidentified girl at his house (well, really his home, his parents’ house).

Like all not-too-sharp sex offenders, Rapoza had a web page, which revealed that he’s a 2006 graduate of Bayport-Blue Point High School, where he played sports. Newsday reports that he has [50 friends on his MySpace page], some of whom were young girls posing in their underwear. (Don’t bother googling, both pages have been taken down).

The girl’s tech-savvy father scrolled through his caller ID and left a message for his daughter at a number he didn’t recognize. His daughter returned the call. God, it’s like living in the future! She explained that she and Rapoza were on an LIRR train to Jamaica, Queens, and her father told her to get off at the next stop. But it seems the damage had already been done.

The girl is now at home and Rapoza has been charged with second-degree rape, unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a minor. He [pleaded not guilty] at today’s arraignment and was ordered held on $50,000 bail. Police said Rapoza had no prior criminal history, is unemployed and previously worked as a repairman (not that there’s anything wrong with that).
