Alliance of Women Film Journalists Like Viggo Naked… and Think Hilary Swank Needs a New Agent
It’s
the time of year when everyone wants to give and receive… awards that
is. The Alliance of Women Film Journalists have announced their second
annual EDA Awards. After the expected Best Film/Director awards (No Country For Old Men/Coen Brothers),
there’s a few unusual categories that you won’t be seeing at the Golden
Globes or Oscars—even with rivers of free booze. The obligatory nods to
smart, talented women are appreciated, including:
Best Woman Director — Sarah Polley (Away From Her)
Best Breakthrough Performance — Ellen Page (Juno)
Best Woman Screenwriter — Tamara Jenkins (The Savages)
But things get really interesting in their "EDA Special Mention Awards" so that we learn what these ladies are really after.
The Unforgettable Moment Award goes to Eastern Promises — Viggo Mortensen’s full frontal; he also gets a nod for Best Depiction of Nudity or Sexuality.
But the the women don’t seem impressed by Beowulf’s tricks (since the
animated wang is kept from view throughout in cutesy tricks), and don’t
like old man Anthony Hopkins with Robin Wright Penn‘s fair, unblemished skin and give it the award for Most Egregious Age Difference Between Leading Man and Love Interest.
And just to show they’re looking out for their fellow females, they make sure to let Hilary Swank
know that she’s treading down the wrong path with her sappy crybaby
look this year in P.S. I Love You—and no other potential Oscar bait—by
awarding her as the Actress Most in Need of a New Agent. Ouch.
Maybe if she’d shown some more below the waist (with a man of
appropriate age, of course), she’d have had a better year for these
sexed-up ladies.
