Akron/Family Played Castle Clinton

Despite morning rain, it was really beautiful outside by the time Brooklyn's Akron/Family played Castle Clinton on Thursday night. The indie-folk hippies loaded up the stage with a brass section, and slowly worked their way into a really great show. It seemed to take a little while for the band to really hit their stride, but by the time a band member yelled the words "Can we start the show now!" late in the show, the crowd was already on their feet, dancing, clapping, snapping and doing anything the band asked them to do. And then they played "Ed is a Portal," which was easily the highlight of the night.

Next Thursday Long Winters play a free show at Castle Clinton.
