Aborted Bank Robbery

Two would-be bank robbers might want to take a course in remedial note writing after their attempted robbery failed miserably last Thursday, April 11. At around 3 p.m., two bank tellers at a First Avenue bank reported to police that they were approached by two different men using the same note to demand money. According to the tellers, a 24- and a 35-year-old woman, the note said "all large bills from both draws in bag. Comply and no one gets hurt." Both tellers told police they simply ignored the notes. The 24-year-old teller told police that both men then fled the bank northbound on First Avenue towards E. 87th Street. The suspects, described as black men in their 40s wearing sunglasses and jeans, did not get any money. Police said there was video of the incident available. The major case squad is reportedly investigating the incident.
