National Bike to Work Day

    Give your wallet a break and leave the car at home today. During bike month Transit Alternative is holding it's National Bike to work Day event Friday May 18, 2012. Running from7am to 11am, this event aims to highlight the growing number of daily bicycle commuters in New York City. It also aims to promote a healthier city and overall lifestyle. Bike riding is more popular than ever. So much so that the Department of Transportation, is attempting to have private companies provide a bike sharing system in New York City. Whether you own or rent a bike, today is a chance to show solidarity for avid and part time riders alike. Commuter stations are offering free iced coffee, Cliff Bars, and fresh fruit today in all 5 boroughs.
