30 Cents A Tip Does Not Make
I knew it was only a matter of time before we had another good Samaritan on our hands. This time, hes [a cabbie who got stiffed on his tip but still opted to return the valuables his cheapskate passenger left in the car]. Osman Chowd-Hury got flagged down by a woman in the jewelry district and drove her to an apartment building. The $10 fare scored him a 30-cent tip. We presumed he drove off to drown his sorrows in a pint of Cherry Garcia when he discovered a bag containing 31 diamond rings left in the back seat. Of course he could have pocketed them and made a pretty sweet tip (that plus the 30 cents can get ya places). But instead, Chowd-Hury told his boss and then tracked down the lady missing the diamonds on the soles of her cheap-ass shoes. As a reward, she gave him $100. But Chowd-Hurys real prize was a city commendation. Aw.(http://flickr.com/photos/jurvetson/)
