BULLETS ON BOARD

By Doug Black

You may have trouble sneaking that tube of toothpaste onto an airplane with current restrictions, but it’s apparently much easier to smuggle in gun ammunition. While an American Airlines employee was cleaning the interior of a plane at JFK recently, he discovered the ammo clip for a 9mm Glock pistol tucked into a seatback pocket. The loaded magazine was filled with 26 bullets and was thought to be from a passenger, and not one of the sky marshals that occasionally oversee flights. While it remains a mystery which of the plane’s 267 passengers is to blame, frequent flyers can rest easy knowing that the plane was entirely free of any illicit toiletries.
