For one of the biggest economic centers of the world, New York really seems to be whoring itself out for a buck lately. Starting this December, garbage trucks will act as mobile advertisements for the Glad company with ads emblazoned on all the vehicles. In exchange for a “donation” of 125,000 trash bags and $7,500 to the Department of Sanitation’s America Beautiful campaign, trucks will be pimping Glad products all over the city until the end of January. Also, the Port Authority announced potential plans to sell the name of its bus terminal to the corporate sponsor with the highest bid. The PA hopes to use the subsequent funds to improve the station’s dilapidated state, but it might have trouble lifting its image after being renamed Preparation H Station.
